Ninja Chipmunk Still At Large

by Beca on December 22, 2011

I confess, we actually stopped trying to catch him. Instead I just put everything in our kitchen into those plastic containers with the snap lids.

Actually it just gave me an excuse to do it, cause I like my food stuff all tucked away neatly like that.

However – yes there is an however.

A few weeks ago when I started my holiday baking I found a bag of chocolate chips nippled through because I had missed them when putting everything in plastic containers.

What? Chipmunks like chocolate?

So I just sighed, and threw them away, and put the new ones safely away from nibbling chipmunks.

Everything was pretty peaceful until this morning. Way before dawn I was working in my office and heard funny noises in the kitchen.

I didn’t think much about it until I realized it sounded just like what it sounds like when Del reaches into the glass container for the peanut M&M’s.

That’s what I thought at first. Early yes, but chocolate any time of the day is good.

Then I remembered that Del was still in bed.

The only lights on in the house was the one in my office so I snuck out to the kitchen and flipped on the light. Sure enough, the lid was off the container and it was obvious that our friend had been snacking.

Since the damage had already been already done, I turned off the light, left the lid off, and went back to work in my office, and waited to see if he would return.

When I heard the sound of M&M’s rolling around again I was even more careful as I snuck out to the kitchen, hoping to finally see our friend.

As I turned on the light I saw the M&M’s move, but no chipmunk – anywhere!

Seriously! In that split second whatever was in the jar was gone!

If I believed in invisible cloaks for chipmunks I would have to say he has one.

Chipmunk poltergeists? I like your idea of an invisibility cloak for the chipmunks! One day ours lost his cloak, and it was a near disaster! Because Brandy found him first! Now THAT was a fun couple of minutes! And yes, all was well, and we haven’t seen him again in the kitchen…..
